THE DESIGN
3' x 5' polyester Greece Flag with two grommets, double-stitched top and bottom edges, and a triple-stitched fly edge to reduce fraying.
✍️ The Design: The blue and white layout was officially adopted on March 15, 1822, at the First National Assembly at Epidaurus as the nation fought for independence from the Ottoman Empire (modern-day Turkey). This design was originally used primarily as a naval ensign while a simple white cross on a blue field served as the flag on land. This striped design became the sole official national flag in 1978.
In the upper hoist corner sits a white Greek cross, representing Eastern Orthodox Christianity and its historical role in preserving Greek identity.
The nine alternating horizontal stripes of blue and white carry famous symbolism. According to popular tradition, the nine stripes represent the nine syllables of the Greek battle cry "Eleftheria i Thanatos" ("Freedom or Death"). Another well-known theory suggests they represent the nine Muses of Greek mythology. The deep blue symbolizes the Aegean and Ionian Seas, while the bright white represents the purity of the struggle for independence.
🇬🇷 Days of Celebration: Greeks fly this flag on Independence Day (March 25th), Ohi Day (October 28th), and Armed Forces Day (November 21st).

Yes! Our single-layer flags have full rich color on both sides of the fabric.

This flag is single-layer, meaning it is printed on the front. On the reverse side, the text will appear mirrored. If you want it oriented correctly on both sides, look for our flags that have a "double-layer" option.

It really depends on the environment it is flying in. Direct UV exposure, wind, rain, latitude, and especially hitting things like the brick on a house will shorten your flag's life. Also, dark colors fade first and the fastest. See our care page to make your flag last the longest!

We ship most things that don't include poles in discreet black eco-mailers. They're made from recovered ocean-bound plastic, so even our packaging does good!
Anything shipped with a flag pole, garden pole, or large numbers of flags comes in a standard cardboard box.

You choose! We offer standard USPS and expedited shipping options at checkout. Standard shipping typically takes 3-5 business days within the continental US, while expedited options are available for faster delivery if you choose to upgrade. We try to get orders in the mail as soon as we can. This could be as fast as the next day or take us a few days during busy times.
